HASTINGS, Minn. – Saint Benedict golf leads the D3 Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus following the first round of the invite held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Emerald Greens G.C. (par 72).
The Bennies carded a 303 (15+) and are four shots ahead of the host Gusties in the 18-team field. Macalester is in third (310), followed by Carleton (312) and St. Olaf (313).
The final round begins Sunday with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
First-year
Hallie Johnson (Red Wing, Minn.) led the field of 112 golfers until her second-to-last hole and is one shot behind Concordia's Zoe Keene, who was the only player to shoot below par (-2, 70). Johnson carded an even 72 on Saturday with four birdies and nine pars.
CSB's next three golfers are only a shot apart from each other. Junior
Kenna Henriksen (Olivia, Minn./BOLD) is tied for seventh with a four-over 76. She added four birdies, three of which came in her first four holes.

Sophia Anderson (Albany, Minn./Albany Area) is tied for 15th (77) with a pair of birdies and 11 pars. Sophomore
Layla Mathews (Becker, Minn.) is tied for 19th with a six-over 78. She also shot three birdies to help CSB end day one with a tournament-leading 13.
