ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Riding the momentum of a record-tying season opener, the College of Saint Benedict golf team is set to compete at the Carleton Invitational this weekend. The two-day event will be held at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club in Hastings, Minn., on Saturday, Sept. 6, followed by Legacy Golf Club in Faribault, Minn., on Sunday, Sept. 7.
The invitational features a competitive four-team field including Saint Benedict, St. Catherine, St. Olaf, and host Carleton College. Tee times begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

🔍 Season Highlights
The Bennies opened their season in dominant fashion, finishing second overall at the CSB Invite, tying a program-best 36-hole team score with a 623 (310-313)matching a record set in 2018. The team also posted a 310 in the first round, the lowest single-round team score since 2019. Sophomore
Sophia Anderson led the charge with a career-best 154 (76-78) to place second individually, improving her previous personal best by nine strokes. Anderson carded five birdies, 20 pars, and recorded her first career rounds under 79.
Senior
Catherine Jance finished fourth with a strong 155 (77-78), marking her third career top five finish and fourth top 10.
Additional Top Performers:
- Taylor Nadler (Jr.): 6th – 157 (82-75), with her career-low round of 75 on Sunday
- Maggie Roth (Sr.): 13th – 160 (78-82)
- Kenna Henriksen (So.): T-28th – 167 (79-88), tying her career-best round.
CSB's second team also saw solid performances, placing 12th overall (734).
Avery Maus (So.) led the group with a 37th-place finish, followed by
Isabella Anlauf (Fy.),
Brooke Bee (Jr.),
Aspen Humes (Fy.), and
Sydney Burggraf (So.).

🎙️Daryl Schomer, Head Coach
Now in his 15th season leading the program,
Daryl Schomer has built CSB into a perennial contender. Under his leadership:
- The Bennies placed in the top five at the MIAC Championships in 12 of 14 seasons.
- CSB earned runner-up finishes in both 2017-18 and 2018-19.
- Schomer has coached 20 All-MIAC First Team athletes.
- In 2023–24, Emily Renner became a four-time All-MIAC honoree and earned WGCA All-Region recognition.
- The 2019–20, 2018, and 2017 teams set the program's 18-, 36-, and 54-hole records, respectively.
Off the course, Schomer's emphasis on academics has also paid off:
- In 2024–25, CSB ranked 13th in NCAA Division III in team GPA (3.769)
- The team was honored as a WGCA All-Scholar Team
- Six players were named WGCA All-American Scholars
