ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The College of Saint Benedict soccer team (5-5-0 overall, 3-0-0 MIAC) looks to extend its four-game winning streak as it hosts Augsburg (4-5-0, 1-2-0 MIAC) in conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m., at the CSB Turf Field.

After the matchup with Augsburg, CSB continues MIAC play by hosting St. Olaf at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 4.

CSB looks to extend four-game winning streak
Saint Benedict enters Wednesday's match in top form, riding momentum from four straight victories. Most recently, the Bennies earned a 2-0 shutout win at Gustavus. That win followed dominant home performances over St. Scholastica (4-0), Bethel (3-0), and UW-Stout (5-2).

CSB is averaging 1.89 goals per game while permitting 1.33 per contest. CSB is averaging 15.4 shots pr game and has made 73 shots on goal among 139 taken.

Senior forward Addison Stephani has been a key contributor during the streak, tallying three goals in the wins over Gustavus and St. Scholastica. She leads CSB with six goals this season. She has a team-high 13 points with her six goals ranking fourth in the MIAC.

Meanwhile, junior Avery Soli has been on fire. She scored four goals and an assist across the Bethel and UW-Stout games, including back-to-back two-goal performances — a feat last matched by Megan Thompson in 2019. Soli was named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts, marking CSB's second MIAC weekly honoree this season. Soli has 12 points with her five goals ranking eighth in the MIAC.

Junior goalkeeper Rhianna Anya earned the recognition earlier in the year. Anya recorded her first career full-game shutout in the 2-0 win against Gustavus. She has a .968 save percentage with 30 saves and just one goal allowed in 304:12 this season.

Bennies open season with three straight MIAC wins
CSB opened conference play with a convincing 3-0 win over Bethel on Sept. 20. Soli scored twice and Stephani added another, while the goalkeeper duo of Claire McGrath and Rhianna Anya combined for the clean sheet.

The Bennies have been tested throughout the nonconference schedule. Highlights include a 1-0 road win over UW-Eau Claire — powered by first-year Elly Prairie's first collegiate goal — and a 5-2 victory over UW-Stout, where five different players scored. CSB also suffered narrow setbacks to nationally ranked Emory (No. 5) and Wartburg.

Scouting Augsburg
Augsburg, under third-year head coach Clara Webby (23-14-9 career record), brings a 4-5-0 overall mark and a 1-2-0 MIAC record into the matchup. The Auggies recently fell 2-0 to St. Catherine but secured wins over UW-River Falls (1-0) and Saint Mary's (2-0).

Offensively, Augsburg averages 2.11 goals per game while allowing 1.22. Junior forward Jayla Ponce leads the team with eight goals and three assists for 19 points.

Series History
Saint Benedict holds a slight edge in the all-time series with a 23-19-4 record against Augsburg. However, Augsburg claimed a narrow 1-0 win in their last meeting on Oct. 1, 2024. CSB is 14-8-4 against the Auggies at home and 9-11-0 in road games. The two teams first met in 1985, with CSB earning a 4-1 victory.

Kimble reaches 100 career MIAC wins
Now in his 17th season, head coach Steve Kimble has compiled a 159-95-35 record, including 100 MIAC victories. In a 2-0 win over Gustavus, Kimble recorded his 100th career MIAC win. Under his leadership, CSB has recorded 13 winning seasons, finished in the top four of the MIAC 10 times, and reached the MIAC Playoffs 11 times. Last season, the Bennies placed third in the conference with a 9-6-3 overall record (6-3-2 MIAC).
