ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Senior
Catherine Jance of the College of Saint Benedict golf team has been named The House/St. Cloud Orthopedics CSB Athlete of the Week, following a historic performance at the St. Kate's Invitational that rewrote the program record books.

Jance delivered back-to-back career-best rounds, shooting a 72 on day one and an impressive 71 on day two to finish the tournament with a 36-hole total of 143 — the lowest in CSB history. Her score broke the previous school record of 146, set by
Emily Renner in 2022, by three strokes and earned her a runner-up individual finish at the invitational.
Her record-setting weekend didn't stop at individual accomplishments. Jance helped lead Saint Benedict to a pair of team records as well. The Bennies opened the tournament with a scorching 302 — the lowest single-round score in program history, topping the previous record set in 2005. They followed it with a 309 on day two, finishing with a two-day total of 611. That shattered the previous 36-hole team record of 623 (set in both 2018 and 2025) by 12 strokes.
Individually, Jance's 71 in the second round now ranks tied for second all-time in CSB history, while her first-round 72 is tied for the fifth-best round ever recorded by a Bennie golfer. Her standout performance also marked her fourth consecutive top-five finish this fall.
Through eight rounds this season, Jance owns a team-best 75.6 stroke average — good for fifth in the MIAC — with a total of 605 strokes.
Next up for Jance and the CSB golf team is the MIAC Championships, set for Oct. 4-6 at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn.
