WOODBURY/EDINA, Minn. – It was a weekend for the record books by the College of Saint Benedict golf team.
Behind a historic performance from senior
Catherine Jance, the College of Saint Benedict golf team turned in one of the best showings in program history, finishing third at the St. Kate's Invitational with a record-setting team total of 611 over two rounds.
Jance was sensational from start to finish. The senior fired rounds of 72 and 71 to finish at one-under-par 143, breaking the school's 36-hole individual scoring record — previously held by
Emily Renner (146 in 2022). Not only was Jance's total a personal best, but it also led to her fourth straight top-five finish this season and set the tone for a weekend full of milestones.
Record-Breaking Numbers Across the Board
Saint Ben's didn't just break one record — they shattered multiple. Their two-round team total of 611 beat the previous program best of 623, set in both 2018 and earlier this year. Even more impressive: their opening round score of 302 set a new 18-hole school record, eclipsing the long-standing mark of 306 set back in 2005.
Jance's final-round 71 now stands tied for the second-lowest round in program history, joining elite company with former Bennies
Emily Renner (2022) and Grace Todora (2011).
CSB head coach
Daryl Schomer was impressed by his team's special weekend.
"They're rewriting out history books and no one is more deserving of the record than this group for the work they put in," said Schomer, who team will compete at the MIAC Championships on October 4-6 at the Braemer Golf Course in Edina, Minn. The effort this weekend resulted in CSB's fourth straight top four finish.
