ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team (8-5 overall, 5-2 WIAC) is set to wrap up the regular season this weekend with a pair of home conference games as the Bennies look to extend their five-game winning streak and potentially secure a second-place finish in the WIAC standings.
The Bennies host UW-Stevens Point (2-13, 1-6 WIAC) at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25, and then celebrate Senior Day with a matchup against Southwestern University (1-13, 0-6 WIAC) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. These games mark the first-ever meetings between CSB and both visiting programs. Prior to the game on Saturday, CSB will recognize its two seniors, including
Emma Osland, a senior nursing major from Cottage Grove, Minn., and
Emma Schrepfer, a senior biology major from Andover, Minn.
Currently sitting alone in third place, CSB can finish tied for second with UW-Eau Claire if they win both games. Thanks to a 12-6 head-to-head win over Eau Claire earlier this month, the Bennies would hold the tiebreaker for a WIAC playoffs set to open May 2.
The team has had a standout second half of the season, sparked by a thrilling 12-11 win over UW-La Crosse on April 5—CSB's first-ever WIAC victory. First-year attacker
Ava Mosley led the way with four goals and assisted on the game-winner by
Sami Hackley. After a tough loss to DII Northern Michigan, CSB responded with dominant wins, including a program-record 25-0 win over Augsburg and victories over MSOE, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, and Hamline.
Scouting UW-Stevens Point, Southwestern University
UW-Stevens Point, which is led by interim head coach Katie Lindsley, has a 2-13 record, including 1-6 in WIAC play. In recent action, they lost to UW-River Falls, 20-3, on April 23; and UW-Eau Claire, 23-3, on April 16; as well as 11-10 in overtime to Hamline. The Pointers have been outscored, 210-to-122 in goals and average 20.9 shots per game with opponents at 35.1. UW-Stevens Point is successful on 62.5 percent of its clear attempts with opponents at 78.1. In addition, opponents own a 225-to-157 margin in draw controls and 355-to-266 in ground balls. Aubrey Keeping leads the team with 34 goals and 49 points while both Courney Leising and Marissa Van Dyke has totaled 24 goals each. Emily Griege has a 13.63 goals against average and .497 save percentage.
Directed by second year head coach Taylor Beretich, Southwestern is 1-13 overall with a 0-6 mark in WIAC play. In its most recent action, Southwestern dropped a 16-15 decision to Hamline in St. Paul, Minn., on April 13; 30-8 to UW-Eau Claire on April 12; and 16-12 to UW-Stout on April 11. In team stats, the Pirates have been outscored 235-to-93 by opponents. Southwestern has averaged 18.8 shots per game to 34.5 to opponents. They have been successful on clears at a 51.6 percent mark with opponents at 63.1 percent. In addition, opponents have a 298-to-206 margin in ground balls and 223-to-139 in draw controls. Individually, Cecillia Cantu leads the way with 35 goals and 41 points. Grace Van Dinter has 17 goals and Sydney Martin, 14. In the net, Emma Bethka owns a 15.60 goals against average with 97 saves and a .363 save percentage.
CSB Player Highlights
- Sami Hackley (Junior): Hackley has scored 29 goals and dished out nine assists (38 points), ranking second on the team in both categories. With 119 career goals, she's the first player in CSB history to reach that level of goal scoring. Hackley has scored multiple goals in 20 of her last 24 games and has a career-high eight game-winning goals. She has eight games with five or more goals, including a program-record nine against Augsburg on April 12, 2024. In her career, Hackley has a program-best 31 multi-goal games.
- Ava Mosley (First Year): In wins over UW-Eau Claire (12-6) and UW-Stout (17-3), Mosley tallied four goals and added two assists against UW-Stout. After recording three goals and three assists for six points, she now has a team-high 32 goals and leads CSB in assists with 13 and points at 45. She now has eight multi-goal games, including six of the past seven games. She also has 17 ground balls, and two game-winning goals.
- Izzy Bohlman (First Year): Bohlman has contributed 24 goals and one assist for 25 points, ranking third on the team. She has 22 ground balls and 16 draw controls.
- Hannah Kurowski (First Year): Kurowski has 11 goals and six assists, accumulating 17 points. She has three multi-goal games.
- Emma Nelson (Sophomore): Nelson scored 12 goals and provided seven assists, adding a team-high 30 draw controls and 13 forced turnovers. She has three multi-goal games this year and 11 in her career. Nelson has totaled 34 goals and 14 assists with 48 points in her career.
- Lizzie Schrubbe (Sophomore): Schrubbe scored 11 goals with nine assists for 20 points. In her career she now has 59 assists and 41 goals for 100 career points. In 2025 she has 24 ground balls. Last season, she set a program record with 50 assists for a season and 12 points in a single game. Schrubbe has three multi-goal games this year and 13 in his career.
- Emma Osland (Senior): Osland scored season-high three goals in the win over UW-Eau Claire and added one vs UW-Stout for seven this season and increased her career total to 54 and with 10 assists 64 points.
- Merrill Delich, a first year, has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points.
- First-year Kamryn Peterson has reached double-digits in goals with 10 and added two assists for 12 points and has recorded 13 draw controls.
- Junior Ella Steinke has three goals and four assists with 32 draw controls and 23 ground balls. She has totaled 46 goals, 24 assists and 70 points in her career. In addition, she has three game-winning goals and 82 draw controls.
- Senior Emma Schrepfer has totaled four goals this season and now has 28 in her career. With 15 assists, she has totaled 43 points with 53 ground balls in her career.
- Chloe Lewis (Goalkeeper): Lewis, who is 6-5 this season in net, has made 94 saves in 11 starts this season, with 10.08 goals against average. In the last five games – all wins, Lewis has allowed a total of 20 goals or 4.0 goals per game average She now has 386 saves, 9.72 goals against average and 25-12 record. She has faced 1,014 shots in her career.

Through 13 games, CSB has scored 173 goals (13.3 per game) and registered 78 assists. The Bennies are averaging 31.5 shots per game and have totaled 299 ground balls, 163 forced turnovers, and 183 draw controls. The team has a 78.7 percent clear success rate while holding opponents to 62.4 percent. CSB has allowed 125 goals (9.6 per game) and 54 assists, with opponents averaging 22.2 shots per game.

Patrick Crandall holds a 28-13 record and has led the Bennies to two Midwest Lacrosse Conference titles with an undefeated 12-0 conference record. This is CSB's first season in the WIAC under Crandall's leadership.
