06/29/2026

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict athletic department celebrated the accomplishments of the 2025-26 athletic year in May with its annual student-athlete celebration. Twelve Bennies were announced as finalists for the annual CSB Rookie of the Year award, presented to the top newcomer of the season in each sport.

Goalie Ashley Fischer (Madison Lake, Minn./Mankato East) was selected as lacrosse's finalist for the award.

Fischer helped CSB lacrosse to its second-consecutive berth to the WIAC tournament. She earned All-WIAC honors after leading the conference in save percentage (.489). She was a two-time WIAC Player of the Week (March 17 and April 28).

Fischer was one of four first-year players to be honored by the WIAC in its postseason awards and was one of two on the first team. She played and started in all 13 of the Bennies' games. She averaged 8.92 goals against and made 111 saves.

The Bennies (6-7, 4-4 WIAC) finished fifth in the WIAC and earned their second-consecutive berth to the conference playoffs where they fell to UW-Eau Claire in the quarterfinals. Five players earned All-WIAC honors and first-year midfielder Rayna Malmberg (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) was named the WIAC Newcomer of the Year.
