MENOMONIE, Wis. –
Ava Mosley scored four goals and
Chloe Lewis anchored the defense as the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team (7-5, 4-2 WIAC) earned its fourth straight win with a 17-3 road win over UW-Stout (7-4, 2-4 WIAC) in road WIAC play.
With the win, the Bennies improved to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the WIAC, which has landed them in a tie for third place with UW-LaCrosse. The Bennies are just a half-game behind UW-Eau Claire at 5-2 in the league standings.
St. Ben's jumped to a 6-2 lead after the first quarter and then had a 9-0 advantage (4-0, 2
nd Q; 5-0, 3
rd Q) for a 15-2 lead through three quarters. In the opening two periods, the Bennies 29-to-7 shots edge. Then CSB closed it out with a 2-1 fourth quarter edge in extending the winning streak. In total, the Bennies had a 42-to-14 shots edge.
The Bennies were led in scoring by leading scorer and first-year attacker
Ava Mosley, who had four goals and two assists for six points. She scored four goals for a second straight game and now has seven multi-goal games this year. It is her fourth straight game with at least three goals and now has 29 goals and 39 points on the season.
In total CSB had three other players with multi-goal games, including junior
Sami Hackley, who scored two goals and has 25 this season and 115 in her career. It is her 30
th multi-goal game of her career. First-year
Hannah Kurowski and sophomore
Lizzie Schrubbe also scored a pair of goals for CSB. Kurowski now has 10 goals this season while Schrubbe, who also had an assist, has nine goals. The Bennies also had goals from

Goalkeeper
Chloe Lewis was a force in the net, recording seven more saves while limiting UW-Stout to three goals. It is the fourth straight games she had held an opponent to six or fewer goals. The junior from Brooklyn Park, Minn., improved to 5-5 on the season, lowered her goals against average to 10.45, and raised her career save total to 385.
Over the last four games, CSB has outscored its opponents, 67-14, or a 16.75-to-3.5 per game. Today, the Bennies dominated the stats, including 27-to-22 in ground balls; 16-8 in draw controls and were successful on 13-of-13 clears while limiting UW-Stout to 10-of-21. In addition, CSB caused UW-Stout into eight turnovers.
The Bennies will look to extend their winning streak to five when they travel to face Hamline on April 23.
