ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Powered by standout performances from
Chloe Lewis,
Emma Osland and
Ava Mosley, the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team earned an impressive 12-6 victory over UW-Eau Claire in WIAC play Saturday at the CSB Athletic Field.
With the win, the Bennies improved to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the WIAC, climbing into a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings.
Goalkeeper
Chloe Lewis was a force in the net, racking up 11 saves while limiting the Blugolds to just six goals—the third straight game she's held an opponent to six or fewer. The junior from Brooklyn Park, Minn., turned away several point-blank opportunities, particularly during an intense fourth quarter in which UW-Eau Claire fired 11 of its 29 total shots. With the performance, Lewis improved to 4-5 on the season, lowered her goals against average to 11.20, and raised her career save total to 378.
On the offensive side, first-year standout
Ava Mosley and senior
Emma Osland led the charge, combining for seven goals. Mosley tallied four goals on seven shots, marking her sixth multi-goal game of the year and third straight with at least three scores. She now leads the team with 25 goals and 33 points. Osland added three goals of her own, increasing her season total to six and her career mark to 53.
The Bennies built momentum early, edging ahead, 4-3, in the first quarter before controlling the second stanza with a 4-0 run to take an 8-3 lead into halftime. After a quieter third period where each team added one goal, the Blugolds pulled within 9-6 in the fourth—but CSB responded with three unanswered goals and stellar work on defense to seal the win.

Statistically, Saint Benedict held an edge in several key areas, including shots (36-29), ground balls (28-26), and clears (15-of-20). UW-Eau Claire led in draw controls (12-10) and converted 9-of-14 clear attempts.
Over the last three games, CSB has outscored its opponents, 50-11, which has enabled the Bennies to build a three-game winning streak.
The Bennies will look to extend their winning streak to four when they travel to face UW-Stout on Wednesday, April 16.
