COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior
Kalli Smith of the College of Saint Benedict cross country team captured the Fall Finale by clocking 19:43 across 5,000-meters on a cool, fall day on the CSB/SJU Cross Country Course.
The Bennies had a solid run at the Fall FInale with several personal-bests and several others that were near career-marks.
Finishing behind Smith, who finished just off her personal best of 19:27.4 on Sept. 6 at the Toni St. Pierre Meet, was sophomore
Julia Babineau, who finished in 20:36 for second and was followed by sophomore
Taylor Radaich, who was third in 20:40 with a career-best as she had a 20:59 on Sept. 6.
CSB also had solid runs from senior
Ava Juntunen-Novak, who was fourth in 20:43, bettering her career mark by 27 seconds (21:10.5) with junior
Ayva Burshem, fifth in 20:50; junior
Maranda Thier, sixth in 20:55 and senior
Brooke Verkinnes, seventh in 21:08. Finishing in the top 10 was first-year
Kaline Merges, eighth in 21:12; senior
Meaghan McDonald, ninth, 21:14 and sophomore
Anabella Witschen, 10
th in 21:16.
Next for CSB cross country will be the NCAA DIII North Region Championships in Northfield, Minn., on Nov. 16.
