CSB Swim and Dive records two titles and 32 top-five finishes in dual with Carleton

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team, which had two first-place finishes and 32 top-five results, dropped a 203-97 dual decision to Carleton College on Senior Day on Jan. 20 at the Warner Palaestra Pool.

During the dual meet, the CSB swim and dive team honored its outstanding group of seniors as part of Senior Day. During the CSB-Carleton dual meet, CSB recognized the achievements in competition and in the classroom of its talented group of the seniors.
 
Up Next - The Bennies travel to St. Peter, Minn. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3, for the two-day Gustie Invite.
 
Dual Breakdown – Individual Events
Sophomore Megan Bartels clocked a 200-yard breaststroke time of 2:36.62 and claimed first place. In relay competition, senior Jocie Larson, sophomore Rachel Schlueter and seniors Lindsay Smutka, Emi Wagner captured first-place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.04.
 
Emi Wagner (25.41, second), Jocie Larson (26.19, fourth) and Mikayla Haskamp (26.31, fifth place) clocked top-five finishes in the 50-yard freestyle. In addition, Liz Hansen was seventh in 26.85.
 
Senior Laura Jennings (5:52.04, third) and sophomore Morgan Stout (5:56.57, fifth) claimed top-five finishes in the 500-yard freestyle.  
 
In the 100-yard freestyle, Schlueter took third-place and clocked a time of 57.55 while Larson was fourth in 57.80.  
 
Sophomore Lauren Sitzman clocked a time of 2:05.95 for second-place in the 200-yard freestyle. In the same event, first-year Emma Neely was sixth in 2:16.94.
 
Stout recorded a time of 20:55.74 in the 1650-yard freestyle and claimed fifth-place.
 
In the 100-yard backstroke, Schlueter clocked 1:02.84 for third-place and Smutka was fourth in 1:03.00.
 
Smutka was second in 2:20.69 and Sitzman claimed third in 2:21.38 in the 200-yard backstroke.
 
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Bartels placed second with a 1:11.98 while Hansen was third in 1:14.07.
 
First-year Claire Canfield took fourth in the 400-yard IM with a clocking of 5:06.51.
 
Jennings (2:25.14) and first-year Josey Jackson (2:32.01) took second and third place in the 200-yard butterfly.
 
Diving-
 
First-year Ella Kowalczyk (178.25, third), senior Claire Hippen (163.60, fourth), and sophomore Sabrina Buffetta (154.75, fifth) secured top-five finishes on the one-meter board.  
 
On the three-meter board, Kowalczyk was third in 177.75 and Buffetta was fourth in 170.75.   
 
In the relays-
 
Bartels, Haskamp, Sitzman and Hansen took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle by clocking 1:46.85.
 
First-year Sydney Gustin, senior Emma Vicker, first-year Jayda Alholm and Neely took sixth with a time of 1:54.0 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
In the 200-yard medley, Smutka, Bartels, Wagner and Schlueter claimed second with a time at 1:53.45. In the same relay, Canfield, Jennings, Hansen and Haskamp clocked a time of 1:58.59 for fourth place.
