MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –
Emi Wagner's All-MIAC and top-two program mark in the 50 freestyle highlighted several standout performances by the College of Saint Benedict Swim and Dive Team at the MIAC Championships on Thursday at the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Bennies finished the day with six top-10 program marks and an NCAA B standard in diving.
Through two days of championship competition, CSB is fifth in the team standings with 140 points. Gustavus leads with 246 points followed by St. Catherine, 238; St. Olaf, 212; Macalester, 203; and then Saint Ben's.
Today, the Bennies had 19 personal-best performances with senior
Molly Johanson, junior Fiona Rosko, junior
Emi Wagner, and the 400-medley registering top-10 program marks. With those top 10 marks, CSB now has eight total top-10 program marks at the championships. CSB had four more top-six performances and now has six in two days of competition.
Two-time All-American diving standout
Emily Quill, who recently qualified for the NCAA
DIII regionals, finished fifth in the 3M diving with her second straight NCAA B standard of 343.55. Earlier on Thursday, she finished third and advanced to the conference finals on the 3M board in the preliminaries with an NCAA B cut of 355.25.
In the 50 free, Wagner earned All-MIAC honors with a third-place finish in the finals, clocking a 23.98, which is second all-time in CSB history. Wagner, who was also part of the 400-medley relay that finish sixth with a top-10 program mark, clocked a pair of top-five program marks in prelims and finals. After clocking a 24.17 in the prelims, Wagner bettered the performance in the finals with a 23.98 which tied former CSB standout Kristen Beste (23.98, 2012) for second all-time and just .27 from the top mark by Steph Bierman of 23.71 in 2013. First-year Rachel
Schlueter finished 12
th overall in the 50 free with a 24.83 final clocking. However, she had a personal-best of 24:64 (11
th, qualifying) in the prelims.
In the 200 IM, CSB had points from Johanson and Rosko, who both placed in the top 10. For Johanson, she had a career-best in time and finish in the 200 IM at the MIAC as she clocked 2:11.48 for fifth place. With the time, she now ranks fourth all-time in the 200 IM at CSB. Rosko also had a marvelous effort in finishing 10
th overall and second in the B final with her clocking of 2:13.57, which was a PR by 1:17 and the ninth best mark in school history in the event. Earlier in the day, Johanson had clocked a then PR of 2:12.44 which was a top-10 CSB program mark that she bettered in the evening finals session.
The 400-medley relay also scored for CSB, finishing sixth with a 4:01.76. The relay of senior
Mads Slavik, Rosko, junior
Lindsay Smutka and Wagner bettered their season best by 7.09 seconds with the sixth-best time all-time in CSB history.
In the 500 free, CSB picked up points from junior
Laura Jennings, who placed 16
th in the B final in 5:30.62. In the prelims, Jennings was also 16
th as she qualified for finals with her PR of 5:29.78.

nd in a personal-best of 2:24.39 followed by first-year
Liz Hansen, 24
th, with a personal-best of 2:26.79 and senior Mary Ridgway, 25
th with a personal-best of 2:27.24.
50 Free -- Also, in the 50 free, senior Mads
Slavik finished 18
th with a season-best of 25.14 while first year
Mikayla Haskamp had a personal-best of 25.48 as did first-year Ellie
Blattner at 26.85 while junior Hannah
Tatge clocked 25.29.
500 Free – Also in the event first-year student
Maddy Ahlquist was 26
th in 5:49.14 and junior Emma
Vicker, 29
th, in 5:55.72 with both recording personal bests.
3M Diving -- In diving, junior Claire
Hippen was 14
th with a B standard of 291.50 and sophomore Sabrina
Buffetta was 18
th with a score of 248.20. However,
Hippen and
Buffetta did not advance to the finals.
As the meet moves forward, morning prelim sessions are set for Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The evening championship sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m. For a complete schedule,
