ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – On Senior Day, the College of Saint Benedict Swimming Team had a number of standout performances in a dual against Gustavus Adolphus at the Warner Palaestra Pool in Collegeville, Minn.

On Senior Day, CSB recognized six seniors including Katie Brewer (nutrition major) of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; Molly Johanson (biology and math major), Chanhassen, Minn.; Emily Quill (integrative science major), Becker, Minn.; Mary Ridgeway (biology major), Litchfield, Minn; Fiona Rosko (biology major, Seaside, Calif.; and Mads Slavik (psychology major), Green Isle, Minn.  

CSB, which dropped a 222-to-78 decision to Gustavus, had a number of notable efforts.

In diving, Quill had a pair of season-bests for CSB. Quill finished third on the 1-meter board with a team-season best score 221.65 and surpassing her previous best of 198.65. She also placed second on 3-meter board with a team-season-best of 225.50. Mikayla Haskamp was sixth on the 1-meter board at 199.90 and surpassed her previous best on the 3-meter board at 182.20 (181.85). In addition, Claire Hippen was eighth with a season-best of 187.65 on the 1-meter board and her 178.15 was eighth in 3-meter diving.

Junior Lindsay Smutka continued to excel with three top-3 finishes including a title in the 100-yard backstroke at 59.86, just off her previous best. She placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:15.41 and third in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.57.

Another senior Molly Johanson had three top three finishes including second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:33.85; second in the 200 IM in 2:20.49 and third in the 500 freestyle in 5:37.02.

Upcoming Schedule
On Feb. 3-4, CSB will conclude the regular season at the Minnesota Challenge in Minneapolis. The MIAC Championships will be held from Feb. 15-18 in Minneapolis.
