ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team will make the trek to the Twin Cities for a double dual at St. Catherine University Saturday, Oct. 31. The Halloween meet will feature CSB, St. Kate's, and St. Olaf College and is slated to begin at 10 a.m. Diving events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The Bennies enter the weekend off a home-opening win against Macalester College Saturday, Oct. 24. CSB snagged the win in nine events on the night and recorded 21 top-three finishes. Senior Haley Zelen (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) put an emphasis on the strong showing for the Bennies by setting the pool record in the 200-yard Individual Medley, clocking in at 2:11.26 as she bested the field by 11 seconds. Saint Ben's saw multi-event wins from Zelen, first-year Brynn McNanley (Medina, Minn./Wayzata), sophomore Anna Schottler (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) and senior Claire Canfield (Waconia, Minn./Waconia). Sophomore Josey Larson (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) added one win on the day, while the Bennies snagged first in both relays.

The pool record in the 200 IM, along with wins in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard medley relay, and the 200-yard freestyle relay landed Zelen her first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Swimmer of the Week honor of the season Monday, Oct. 26. It is the seventh weekly conference accolade of her decorated career.

Saint Benedict enters the meet with six times within the top-50 in Division III. Zelen ranks first in the 100-yard individual medley (1:00.06), second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.48) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:08.76). First-year Sydney Thompson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) sits 47th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:57.23. Larson's time of 2:12.60 is the 48th-fastest in the nation. The Bennies' 200 free relay ranks 42nd after clocking in at 1:42.07.
