ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – For the first time since February 2020, the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team is headed to Minneapolis this week for the four-day MIAC Championships.
The 2022 conference meet starts with two relays and men's diving Wednesday, Feb. 16, and continues with morning prelims and evening finals Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 17-19. Morning sessions start at 10:30 a.m. and finals start at 6:30 p.m. at the U of M Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
Per U of M policy, fans must be properly masked at all times, and fans not wearing a mask will be asked to leave. The conference announced a change in ticketing this year. No tickets will be available at the door; instead, fans must purchase tickets online

The meet will also be livestreamed by School Space Media. Fans interested in viewing the livestream must set up an account and the purchase the streams online. The cost is $10 per session or $40 for the entire meet. Details and information can be found

At the last conference meet in 2020, the Bennies finished sixth behind one All-MIAC performance and six All-MIAC Honorable Mention accolades – including two top-six finishes from
Ana Birklid. After earning honorable mention accolades in the 400 IM as a sophomore, Birklid heads into her senior MIAC Championships ranked third in the 200 free and fourth in both the 200 backstroke and 200 IM. She broke her own school record in the 200 IM twice this season, and looks to set more records this weekend.
In her first conference meet, sophomore
Emi Wagner has the fourth-best 50 free time in the MIAC at 24.46 seconds and is also ranked seventh in the 100 free. Teammate
Jocie Larson is ranked 10
th in the 50 free. Junior
Molly Johanson has the fourth-fastest 400 IM time in the MIAC and Fiona Roko is 10
th, and
Jessica Milstroh is fourth in the 100 breaststroke and sixth in the 100 fly. She moved into fifth in program history in the 100 fly at the Rochester Invite in December when she broke one minute for the first time.
Madison Slavik heads into the championships ranked fourth in the 100 backstroke, and teammate
Lindsay Smutka is right behind in fifth. Smutka also has the seventh-best 200 backstroke time in the MIAC so far this season. Slavik moved into 10
th in program history in the 100 back in December and just missed breaking one minute in the event. Rosko is also ranked fourth in the 200 fly and seventh in the 200 breaststroke.
St. Kate's heads into the 2022 conference meet as the defending champs from 2020. After taking sixth for the past four seasons, the Bennies look to move into the top four this week by the end of the four-day meet.
