ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — Four members of the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors: senior
Megan Bartels and juniors
Mary Morris,
Jayda Alholm and
Haley Zelen.
CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program honors student-athletes across four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
All four honorees also received all-conference recognition from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) following the swim and dive championships held Feb. 11–14. The group helped Saint Benedict place fifth at the MIAC Championships with 467 points — the program's highest total since the 2011–12 season.
Morris, a junior biochemistry major from St. Cloud, Minn., earned her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor. She recorded six All-MIAC honors this season and now has 11 in her career (eight All-MIAC, three honorable mention). At the 2025–26 MIAC Championships, Morris won the 200 backstroke in a school-record time of 2:03.47 and captured the 200 freestyle in 1:54.24, the second-fastest time in program history. Alongside Zelen, she contributed to four record-setting relay performances, including three conference titles: the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.76 – school record), 200 medley relay (1:44.45 – school record), and 400 medley relay (3:51.91 – school record). The group also placed second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.36 – school record).
Zelen, an accounting major from Shakopee, Minn., earned her first CSC Academic All-District honor and was named MIAC Swimmer of the Year — the first in program history. She garnered All-American honors in the 100 backstroke and qualified for three events at the NCAA Division III Championships. Zelen recorded seven All-MIAC performances, including three individual titles. At the MIAC Championships, she won the 50 freestyle in 23.18 (after setting a school record of 23.07 earlier in the season), the 100 freestyle in an NCAA invite time of 50.99 — the program's first title in that event — and the 100 butterfly in a school, MIAC and meet record time of 54.10. She later lowered that mark to 53.88 at the NCAA Championships. Zelen also set a school record in the 100 IM (59.76) and posted the program's second-fastest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.16). Overall, she contributed to four individual records and four relay records, along with nine top-two marks in program history.
Alholm, a junior elementary education major from Little Falls, Minn., earned her first CSC Academic All-District honor. She was part of the record-setting 400 freestyle relay that earned All-MIAC recognition and also swam on the 800 freestyle relay that placed sixth at the conference meet.
Bartels, a senior exercise science major from Highlands Ranch, Colo., also received her first CSC Academic All-District honor. She competed on the record-setting 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay teams, both of which captured MIAC titles, earning her two All-MIAC honors. Previously, she was part of the 200 medley relay that placed fourth (honorable mention All-MIAC) and the sixth-place 400 medley relay during the 2024–25 season.
