ST. JOSEPH, MINN. – The No. 2 seeded College of Saint Benedict Soccer Team (12-5) will host St. Catherine (12-4-3) in the semifinals of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Soccer Conference (MIAC) Tournament at 2 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the CSB Soccer Field. The winner advances to the MIAC Championship on Saturday.

Bennies have gone 10-2-1 over last 13 matches
The Bennies, which has gone 10-2-1 over its last 13 matches, finished the season with a 2-2 draw with regular season league champion Carleton College (12-1-3) in the regular season finale on Saturday, Oct. 29. CSB, which is ranked sixth in the most recent NCAA DIII Regional rankings, faces St. Catherine, which defeated Macalester (8-6-5), 3-0, in a No. 3 vs. No. 6 matchup in the MIAC Tourney on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, November 5, in the 2022 MIAC Women's Soccer Playoff championship game. The game is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. The MIAC Playoff champion will receive the playoff championship plaque and the Conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.

CSB, which finished the league at 8-2-1, finished second overall and came close to their first regular season crown since 2013. However, Carleton scored a late goal to secure the title. In 2022, the Bennies have registered its 26th overall (since 1984) winning season. CSB has recorded 12 wins or more for the 20th time and recently completed their regular season home record at 7-0.

CSB has a 34-9 goal differential in last 13 matches
Over the last 13 matches, CSB has 10 wins and a goal differential of 34-9 with five shutouts. This year, CSB is averaging 2.278 goals per match, second in the MIAC, and allowing .76 for a 1.51 margin, also second in the league. CSB has scored 41 goals which was tied for first in the MIAC with Carleton in the regular season. St. Catherine had 40 goals in the regular season and three more in the first round has 43 on the year overall.

 A sophomore from Edina, Minn., Alli Voss was the regular season MIAC leader with 12 goals scored in 18 matches and an average of .667 She also ranked tied for second with 32 shots on goal of 1.78 per game and had 43 shots for 2.39 per match. Additionally, she was first in the league with six game-winning goals, which ranks sixth in NCAA DIII. She finished tied with 27 points in the league with her average of 1.50 second to Casey McVeigh of Carleton College at 1.69. Voss is also 13th in DIII in shot accuracy at .744. In her career (36 matches/32 starts), Voss has totaled 15 goals with 36 points and eight game-winning goals. Three times she has had two goals in the same game.

Caralyn Conners has six goals, which is tied for the ninth best total in the league. With four assists, she ranks 10th in the MIAC. In goal, Annie Waters is 6-2 with 29  saves while Paige Kahlmeyer is 6-3 with 44 saves. Kahlmeyer ranks first in the MIAC and 59th in NCAA DIII in goals against average at .671 while her save percentage of 0.852 was third in the MIAC and 53rd in DIII. 

Notes on St. Catherine
In his sixth year at St. Catherine, Jesse Campos led the Wildcats to the program's first-ever regular season MIAC title and No. 1 seed in the conference tournament in 2021. They are the No. 3 seed in 2022. This year, he has his team in the semifinals of the MIAC with a 12-4-3 record with a 63-25-12 overall record including 36-11-11 in MIAC play. The Wildcats have had a 43-to-16 goal differential and average 2.22 per match. Amanda Elton scored her 12th goal of the season in the first round MIAC Tournament win over Macalester. In that match up Sofia Campbell and Emily Hinze both scored. In goal, Kate Praetz has started 17 matches and allowed 15 goals while holding a 10-3-3 record.

Series Notes – Bennies lead, 17-7-1
Earlier this year, St. Kates took a 2-1 win over the Bennies in Saint Paul, Minn., on Sept. 14. Overall CSB has 17-7-1 overall record and sit 8-3-1 at home. The Bennies won the first-ever match between the schools with a 5-0 decision on Oct. 16, 2021 on Oct. 16, 2001.

Head Coach Steve Kimble 
The Bennies, which has opened 2022 with 12 wins in 18 matches, have finished in the top four in eight of Kimble's 13 seasons. Kimble, who also serves as Assistant Athletic Director at CSB, is 140-76-27 overall at Saint Benedict with an 89-42-13 mark in conference play. CSB has recorded winning seasons in 12 of his 14 years with the program and has finished the year with a winning record 32 of the past 34 years. In his 14th season, Kimble has coached three All-Americans, two MIAC Players of the Year, one MIAC Rookie of the Year, 18 All-Region athletes, 29 All-MIAC athletes and 19 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections. The Bennies secured the No. 2 seed with the draw, marking the program's 12th playoff berth overall and fifth in a row.
