COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict golf team finished up the third and final day of the MIAC Championships this afternoon at Bunker Hills, with many things to be proud of during their final round.
The Bennies shaved 14 strokes off their second day team score on the final day, shooting a third day score of 318 for a three-day tournament total of 980. The Bennies were able to pull ahead of Gustavus to take hold of 5th place for the tournament finish. Carleton won the MIAC tournament title, shooting a three-day score of 912, with St. Kate's winning the runner-up title with a score of 918.
The Bennies were led by sophomore Georgia Hinton on day three of the MIAC tournament, who saved her best round for last, shooting a career-best 76 to put her at a three-day total of 244 and placing 22nd individually.
Junior Emily Renner carded a third-round 78 to finish 16th individually with a three-day total of 241. First year Jamie Bimberg carded a third-round 80 for a three-day total of 242 to finish tied for 17th individually.
Junior Hayden Boelter also finished out her last MIAC tournament with a career-best round on the final day, shooting a third-round 84 for a three-day total of 263 to place her tied for 37th. Sophomore Sami Boerboom rounded out the Bennies top five with a third-round 89 to also finish tied for 37th individually with a 263 three-day total.
St. Kate's Kyra Venne earned medalist honors, shooting a three-day total of 222. Carleton's Carter Sichol placed second individually with a 224 total score.
The Bennie golf team will be back on the course for their spring season in 2023!
