ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After a pair of double overtime scoreless ties on the road against Saint Mary's and Central, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team is back on home turf for a weekend matchup against Gustavus. The two teams play at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the CSB soccer field.

Fans are welcome, and masks are required inside the OAC but not while sitting in the stands. Live stats and video are available here.

At halftime of the game, the building that houses the soccer press box, locker rooms, concessions and training room will be named the Sister Lois Wedl Athletic Center. Wedl will be honored during a brief ceremony with CSB athletic director Kelly Anderson Diercks. Fans, family and friends are welcome to attend the ceremony and enjoy cupcakes in the Alumnae Room following halftime.

ABOUT THE GUSTIES
The Gusties are 4-3-0 overall to start the 2021 season and 1-1-0 in the MIAC. Senior Katie Ashpole leads Gustavus with four goals. Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shortened season ended with the Gusties having a 4-3-0 record, so they are beginning the way they left off. Senior goalkeeper Abby Goodno has a 1.00 goals-against average and 31 saves.

LAST MEETING
The last time CSB and Gustavus met was April 18, 2021, and the Bennies would take the 3-2 win in double overtime over the Gusties. Clair Lehmann, Ella Hinkemeyer, and Ella Young scored the three CSB goals, including the game-winner in the 105th minute from Young. Paige Kahlmeyer had seven saves in the win.

THE STORYLINE
The Bennie's are looking to pick up their first MIAC win after they had an opportunity in a double overtime tie against Saint Mary's this past weekend. CSB is also looking to get back on the scoresheet again as well with some goals. The last time the Bennies put the ball in the net was Sept. 5 when Erica Golenzer scored the game-winner against UW-Whitewawer.

WHO TO WATCH
Goalkeeper Annie Waters had a career-high seven saves last weekend against Central and helped preserve two 0-0 ties in 2OT. Waters has a GGA of 1.06, 16 total saves, and a 1-1-2 record so far this season.
