ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior diver
Emily Quill swept the diving competition Saturday afternoon to pace the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team at a tri-meet with St. Kate's and UW-Eau Claire.
Quill's wins marked two of the team's five on the day against the Blugolds and Wildcats. CSB fell 183-117 to Eau Claire and 174-118 to St. Kate's.
Quill picked up the win in the one-meter, six-dive competition thanks to a final score of 237.0, a season-best score. She went on to win the three-meter, six-dive competition with a score of 230.54, another-season best mark.
Emi Wagner,
Fiona Rosko and
Ana Birklid all picked up wins for the Bennies. Wagner won the 50 free in 25.16 seconds, Rosko won the 200 breaststroke in 2:32.49 and Birklid picked up a win in the 200 IM in 2:14.62. Rosko also placed second in the 200 fly in 2:19.38 and Birklid added a third-place finish in the 200 free in 1:59.60.
Jessica Milstroh also recorded a pair of top-three finishes Saturday. She took second in the 100 fly in 1:02.47 and third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.96.
Laura Jennings recorded a lifetime best time of 2:22.61 in the 200 fly and finished third, and
Madison Slavik took third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.53) while
Molly Johanson took third in the 200 IM (2:19.59).
Saint Benedict is off now until early December when the Bennies head to Rochester, Minn., for the three-day Rochester Invite.
