CSB offense looks to stay hot Saturday against Hamline

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After a shutout at Concordia to start MIAC play Tuesday, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team is back at home Saturday, Sept. 21, as it hosts Hamline in a conference contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the team's new turf field.

Saturday's game is also the Central Minnesota Youth Soccer Association Appreciation Day, and CSB would like to welcome all young soccer players and their families to CSB's Outdoor Athletic Complex!

ABOUT THE PIPERS
Hamline is 2-3 overall and looking to snap a two-game losing streak Saturday. The Pipers started MIAC play with a 4-1 loss Tuesday to St. Olaf. Five different players have scored for Hamline, and Siri Parker leads the team with two goals. In net, Lauren Sicora is fifth in the league with 22 saves and she has a .917 save percentage.

LAST MEETING
Saint Benedict beat Hamline 3-0 last season in St. Paul. Brianna Griffin, Megan Thompson and Clara Noack all scored, and Thompson and Madelyn Curtis both notched assists. Kendall Koenen made two saves to preserve the shutout. CSB is 25-2 all time against the Pipers.

THE STORYLINE
CSB has found plenty of success at home this season, and is 3-0 on its home turf with wins against two ranked teams. After a big shutout at Concordia Tuesday, Saint Benedict is hoping for

another conference win Saturday to stay at the top of the league and to keep its hot MIAC start rolling.

WHO TO WATCH
Megan Thompson outscored all five of Concordia's previous opponents on her own Tuesday with a hat trick - her second of the season and fourth of her career. In seven games this season, she has matched her point total (23) from all 16 games played in 2018. She leads the MIAC in points and goals (10). Kendall Koenan and Paige Kahlmeyer combined for the shutout in Moorhead.
