COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Fresh off its annual training trip to Florida, the College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team jumped right back into competition and picked up a 216-50 dual win over Hamline Friday afternoon at the Warner Palaestra Pool on the SJU campus.
Allie Crum,
Ashley Groebner and
Kenzie Young all won two individual events to lead CSB, which won 13 total events. Crum swept the distance events as she won the 1,000 freestyle in 11:20.79 and the 500 free in 5:46.92. Groebner won the 100 (1:11.79) and 200 (2:37.96) breaststroke, and Young took first in both the 100 and 200 butterfly. She won the 200 fly in 2:23.82 and the 100 in 1:03.53. Groebner also had a hand in CSB's win in the 200 medley relay. She teamed up with
Emma Ridgeway,
Larissa Kleen and
Zoe Allyson to finish in 1:56.15.
First-year diver
Lisa Pahr had a pair of top-three finishes, and two marks in the top-10 in CSB history Friday afternoon. She took third in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 185.40, the 10
th-best score in CSB history, and second on the three-meter board with a mark of 198.40 – good for sixth-best in CSB history.
Maggie Pomerenke won the one-meter board with a score of 228.55 and
Mallory Jarvi took first in the three-meter competition with a score of 218.40.
Other winners for CSB included
Kristina Rudin in the 100 free (56.60),
Skyler Clough in the 200 IM (2:28.17),
Meghan Kratz in the 200 freestyle (2:05.52) and
Meghan Mokhtary,
Maddie Kinney, Kratz and Rudin teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:48.42.
Saint Benedict also finished the day with 12 runner-up finishes, including Jarvi on the one-meter board for her second top-two finish of the day.
CSB is back in action right away Saturday, Jan. 13, when it heads to St. Paul for the UST Invite.
