Biography

2017-18: Qualified for the 2018 MIAC Championships in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 200 IM ... finished 14th in the 100 back, 16th in the 200 back and 18th in the 200 IM ... was part of three first-place relays throughout the season ... had best individual finish when she finished second in the 100 backstroke against Hamline.

Previous School: Kinney spent two seasons at Gustavus where she competed on the Gusties' swim team. As a first year in 2016 she took 12th in the 100 back and 200 IM and 17th in the 200 back at the MIAC Championships. As a sophomore in 2017, Kinney competed at the conference meet and took ninth in the 100 back, 13th in the 200 back and 23rd in the 200 IM.

High School: Kinney is a 2015 graduate of Austin High School, where she competed in track and field and swimming. She was a swimming state qualifier in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Her proudest moment of her swim career is beating personal bests.

Personal: Madeline is the daughter of William and Michelle Kinney. She has two siblings, Benjmin and Libbie. She enjoys reading, biking, running, knitting, and laughing (a lot!). She loves competing, the atmosphere of a fun-loving team, and the feeling of accomplishment after finishing a hard workout. While at CSB/SJU, she plans to major in biology.
