ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team continues the MIAC season this Saturday, Feb. 4, when it travels to Bethel University in St. Paul. Game time is set for 1 p.m. as CSB looks to improve on its 9-4 conference record.
About Bethel
Bethel is 16-4 overall and 11-2 in the MIAC heading into Saturday's game. The Royals' latest game was a 96-61 win against Carleton on Wednesday night. Kalli Zimmermann leads the team with 15.2 points per game and 2.7 assists per game. Taite Anderson and Abby Miller both average double digits in scoring for the Royals, and Jasmin Bretoi is fifth in the MIAC with a 41.8 three-point percentage. Hannah Johnson is fifth in the MIAC with 8.6 rebounds per game and leads the MIAC with 61 blocks this season.
Last Matchup
CSB and Bethel faced off two times last season, and the Blazers lost both games. Saint Benedict lost the first matchup of the season 62-55 in St. Paul.
Niki Fokken led the team with 16 points and
Chelsey Guetter had 10 rebounds in the loss. Bethel won 55-50 later in the season in St. Joseph. Fokken and
Annie Dittberner both scored in double figures for CSB.

Guetter leads the team with 10 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and Fokken averages 9.3 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game. Fokken is second in the MIAC with 33 blocks this season. Saint Benedict heads into Saturday's game after a 72-53 win against St. Olaf on Wednesday night.

Alison Newton had seven assists in the win. CSB is currently alone in fourth in the MIAC with five games left in the regular season.
The Storyline
CSB has just one loss at home this season, but has struggled on the road going 3-6 this season. CSB, which got off to a hot start to the 2016-17 season, also looks to move one game out of the third-place Royals in the MIAC standings with a win this weekend. Looking ahead, CSB will be on the road for a conference game Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m., when traveling to Augsburg College, which is eighth in the MIAC standings.
