Rudin wins four times as CSB beats St. Kate’s

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team won eight individual events and two relays Saturday afternoon en route to a 180-120 win against St. Kate's in a MIAC dual meet in St. Paul, Minn.
 
Leading the way for CSB was Kristina Rudin, who won four total events. She won the 50 free in 25.67 seconds, the 100 free in 56.42 seconds and the 100 fly in 1:05.25. Rudin was also part of the winning 200 medley relay time. She, along with Maddie Kinney, Ashley Groebner and Emma Ridgeway finished in 1:54.98.
 
Kenzie Young also picked up a pair of wins for CSB. She won the 200 fly in 2:25.59 – a collegiate personal best – and the 500 free in 5:29.32. Meghan Mokhtary won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.03 – season-best time – and Mallory Jarvi won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 233.10. That score is a career-best, is currently second in the MIAC and is the fourth-best score in CSB history.
 
Lauren Christiansen won the 200 back stroke in 2:16.80 for CSB. Ridgeway, Zoe Allyson, Meghan Kratz and Mokhtary won the 200 freestyle relay – the final event of the day – in 1:45.77.
 
Christiansen also took second in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.96 and Kinney finished third in 1:05.05. Maggie Pomerenke took second in the one-meter dive with a score of 231.80, and she took third on the three-meter board with a mark of 171.30 – the 10th-best score in CSB history. Jarvi took second on the three-meter board with a score of 216.30.
 
Kratz took second in the 100 free (57.11) and 200 free (2:03.45). Ashley Groebner finished second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.85 and third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.63. Mokhtary took third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:42.20. Ridgeway (26.30) and Allyson (26.56) took second and third, respectively, in the 50 free. Young took second in the 200 IM in 2:18.71 – just eight seconds behind the winner. Groebner took third in 2:22.97.
 
Allie Crum took second in the 1,000 free in 11:34.49 and Grace Livermore took second in the 100 fly in 1:06.71. Mokhtary took third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:42.20. Alex Benham, Sydney Weires, Claudia Mahoney and Larissa Kleen finished second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.13.
 
The dual marked the final of the 2017 portion of the team's season as it is off now for the holiday break. The team heads to Florida for its annual training trip Jan. 2-10 and returns to action Jan. 12 at home against Hamline.
