ResultsNORTHFIELD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team's season came to an end Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the MIAC Postseason Tournament.
The Blazers, who have made the conference tournament in eight of head coach
Scott Larsen's nine seasons, lost to Carleton College. The No. 3 Knights defeated the No. 6 Blazers 8-1 in Northfield, Minn. This was the second win against CSB for Carleton, which defeated the Blazers 9-0 in February.
CSB went 2-1 in doubles play, but the Knights swept the singles competition. Sisters
Laura Finn and
Cassy Finn picked up the Blazers' lone win when they won 8-4 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
Daley Rupar and
Rachel Raden fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and
Victoria Beach and
Taylor Kraemer lost 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Rupar took her match to three sets at No. 1 singles, but ended up losing to the Knights' top singles player. Rupar lost 3-6, 6-1, 10-5.
Laura Finn fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Beach lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Kraemer lost 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Raden lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and first year
Megan Hintz rounded out the Blazers' roster as she fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Saint Benedict ends the year 8-12 overall and in sixth in the MIAC. The Blazers went 5-5 in conference play.
There are no seniors on the Blazers roster, so CSB looks to return all of its top players in 2015-16.
