OWATONNA, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team started the spring portion of its 2014-15 season Saturday afternoon with a MIAC dual against Carleton College. The Knights, who are ranked No. 26 in Division III, defeated the Blazers 9-0 in Owatonna, Minn. 
Saturday's match marked the first match of the season for three Blazers who were studying abroad in the fall. 
Daley Rupar, 
Victoria Beach and 
Rachel Raden competed at No. 2, 3 and 6 singles, respectively, for CSB. 
Laura Finn played at the No. 1 singles spot for the Blazers and fell 7-5, 6-1 after playing a very close match with Carleton's Mikayla Becich. Blazer head coach 
Scott Larsen said Finn had several opportunities to close out the match. 
Rupar fell 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Beach lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. First year 
Taylor Kraemer lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and first year 
Cassy Finn fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Rounding out the singles play was Raden, who fell 6-3, 6-3 to Grace Davis at No. 6 singles. 
Laura Finn and Beach teamed up at the No. 1 doubles spot and fell 8-3 to Becich and Caitlin Shea. Rupar and 
Cassy Finn fell 8-1 to Alana Danieu and Caitlin Eichten at No. 2 doubles, and Kraemer and Raden lost 8-0 to Danielle Vasiliev and Claire Spencer at No. 3 doubles. 
The Blazers are off now until heading to Orlando, Fla., for their annual training trip. CSB plays four nonconference matches while in Orlando.
