Blazer swimming and diving hosts St. Kate’s

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team gets the opportunity to swim at home in front of a familiar crowd for the first time this season Friday when it hosts St. Kate's in a MIAC dual meet. Friday marks the fourth competition for the Blazers this season and the third dual meet.

The Schedule: Saint Benedict hosts St. Kate's starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Warner Palestra Pool on the Saint John's campus. This will be a coed dual as the Blazers' meet will run concurrently with the Johnnies' nonconference dual against South Dakota State University.

About the Wildcats: This is the first dual meet of the season for the Wildcats, who have competed at two invites so far. St. Kate's took second Friday at a meet hosted by St. Thomas, and turned around Saturday and finished fourth at a meet hosted by Macalester. Jenna Nagy won the diving competition Friday and Bryanna Waage won the 200 individual medley. Nagy took second in the one-meter diving competition Saturday.

Last Year: Saint Benedict hosted St. Kate's and Concordia in a triangular last season, and the Blazers won seven events. Steph Bierman won two individual races and a relay and Laura Peterson also picked up a win for CSB.

Last Time Out: The Blazers picked up a 205-73 win against MIAC rival Concordia Saturday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn. CSB won 13 events, and Laura Peterson, Kenzie Young and Grace Hesse all picked up two individual wins for the Blazers. Hannah Manley, Steph Bierman, Jenna Humbert, Megan Lawson and Kristina Rudin all won individual races, and two CSB relay squads also came away victorious.

Who to Watch: The Blazers have several first years performing well so far this season, including Grace Hesse and Kenzie Young, who both won two events Saturday at Concordia. Young also won a pair of events against Division II MSU-Moorhead Friday night. Senior Megan Lawson has been solid in the one-meter dive so far this season, and Peterson and Bierman have both been strong for the Blazers both in individual events and relays.
