Blazer Track and Field Places First at Carleton TRI

The College of Saint Benedict Blazer track and field team competed in the Carleton TRI Friday night, placing first overall.

Sophomore Danielle Busch (New Prague, MN, New Prague) reached a NCAA Division III provisional height of 12 feet to place first in the pole vault. First-year Clare Foley (Northfield, MN, Northfield) took first in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.48 seconds, while first-year Amy Kiminski (Farmington, MN, Farmington Senior High) took first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.89 seconds, sophomore Erin Sand (New Prague, MN, New Prague) took first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 61.34 seconds, and senior Jillian Daleiden (Blaine, MN, Blaine) took first in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:40.51.

First-year Kelsie Larson (Decorah, IA, Decorah) and senior Caitlin Schnettler (Richmond, MN, ROCORI) ran a close 800 meter run with times of 2:29.23 and 2:29.25, respectively. Sophomore Anna Williams (Apple Valley, MN, Eastview) was beat out by Carleton's Haley Johnson by .04 of a second to take second place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:06.97. First-year Alexa Wachter (Bismarck, ND, Bismarck) placed first in the 1 mile with a time of 5:39.04 and Carleton was lead by Simone Childs-Walker with a time of 10:01.93 to take the three top spots in the 3000 meter run, and senior Katy Torchia (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) placed fourth with a time of 10:53.25.

Sophomore Sarah Schmitt (St. Cloud, MN, Apollo) placed first in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.20 and also placed first in the long jump with a distance of 15 ft 9.5 in. The Blazers also took first in both the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:11.93 and distance medley relay with a time of 13:16.79. Junior Julia Renner (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View) placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 33 ft 11.25 in. as well as placing first in the high jump with a height of 4 ft 9.75 in. First-year Danelle Duppong (Lake Elmo, MN, St. Croix Lutheran) placed second in the shot put with a distance of 33 ft 0.5 in., and senior Maria Gans (Rice, MN, Sauk Rapids-Rice) placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 38 ft 7 in. Sophomore Clare Murn (Canton, GA, St. Cloud Tech) took home first in the pentathlon with 2721 points.

Up next for the Blazers is the CSB/CSC Dual in Collegeville, MN at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 12th.
