Sophomore golfer
Kathryn Hauff was named the Elite 88 award winner at the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships opening banquet held on Monday night at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Elite 88, founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among her peers. The Elite 88 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 88 championships.
Hauff, a political science major, accepted the inaugural Elite 88 award for Division III women's golfers after compiling a spectacular 3.95 grade-point average. She will be competing as an individual during the four-day tournament that includes 20 competing schools and six competing individuals from around the country.
Hauff is scheduled to tee off tomorrow at 12:50 in the first round of the tournament.
