The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (22-5 overall, 8-1 MIAC) defeated Gustavus 3-1 this afternoon in Claire Lynch to extend the Blazers' winning streak to four and tie St. Thomas for first place in the MIAC.
There were six tied scores in the first set before either team got past ten points. The Blazers began to inch ahead, picking up a 17-13 lead and eventually winning 25-19.
CSB fell behind 8-1 in the second set, but with at 15-8 Gustavus lead, the Blazers climbed back with a 7-0 run to tie the score at 15. However, the Gusties were a little too tough, eventually forcing a 25-23 Blazer loss.
The Blazers jumped to a quick 11-6 lead and managed to keep their distance, winning the third set 25-18. CSb continued to hold its momentum through the final set, finding 10-3 and 20-10 leads before grasping the win at 25-16.

Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forrest Lake) with 15. Senior outside hitter
Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, MN, Hibbing) also picked up 14 kills and 14 digs. Junior right side hitter
Kayli Schumacher (East Grand Forks, MN, Sacred Heart) added 13 kills while junior middle hitter
Calleigh Brown (Buffalo, MN, Buffalo) picked up 11. Senior libero
Andrea Millerbernd (Littlefork, MN, Littlefork-Big Falls) picked up 20 digs while senior setter
Beth Hanson (Faribault, MN, Bethlehem Academy) contributed 51 assists toward the win.
The Blazers head on the road to St. Paul, Minn. to take on St. Catherine on Wed., Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
