The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (15-4 overall, 3-0 MIAC) cruised past Central College 3-0 to finished the first day of the Battle of the Border Tournament 2-0.
CSB defeated Central 25-20, 25-19, and 25-22 in Dubuque, IA this evening, totalling an excellent .307 team hitting percentage with 43 kills and just eight errors.
The Blazers were led by junior middle hitter
Calleigh Brown (Buffalo, MN, Buffalo), who totalled 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage, as well as four blocks. Three CSB players had eight kills this evening, including senior outside hitter
Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, MN, Hibbing), junior right side hitter
Kayli Schumacher (East Grand Forks, MN, Sacred Heart) and sophomore outside hitter
Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forrest Lake). Jaynes also had 14 digs, while senior setter
Beth Hanson (Faribault, MN, Bethlehem Academy) contributed 36 assists.
Up next the Blazers take on Simpson College tomorrow at 11 a.m. and Wartburg at 3 p.m.
