ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Julia Pias is starting to find her rhythm with the College of Saint Benedict hockey program, and the team is benefitting as she gets more comfortable.

Pias has had at least one goal in each of the team’s last three wins or ties, including a trio of points this past weekend in a big win at Saint Mary’s. For her performance this weekend, Pias is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.

In CSB’s first game of the weekend Friday in Winona, Pias registered two shots on net in the team’s 3-0 loss to Saint Mary’s. Saturday against the Cardinals, she put together her best game in a Saint Benedict uniform.

Pias notched two goals – the first multi-goal game of her collegiate career – and also had one assist in the team’s 5-1 win at SMU. Her first goal marked the first of the game and came just before the four-minute mark to put CSB up 1-0. She added an assist on teammate Annika Brodt’s goal late in the firs that put CSB up 3-0, and notched one more goal for good measure. Pias scored on the power play at the 4:14 mark of the second period to give CSB a 4-0 lead en route to the team’s third win of the season.

Saturday’s win was Pias’ first multi-goal game, but not her first multi-point game. She had a goal and an assist in the team’s win at St. Olaf on Nov. 16, and scored the team’s only goal in a 1-1 tie with the Oles the next day in St. Cloud.

Pias currently leads the team in goals (4), assists (3) and points (7), and is tied for 12th in the MIAC in total points. She is also second on the team with a +4 +/- rating.

Pias and her Saint Benedict teammates are off now until Jan. 4-6 when the team heads to Stevens Point for a pair of games, and then to Northfield for a nonconference matchup with the Oles. CSB is 3-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 and in sixth in the MIAC heading into the holiday break.
