ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – This past weekend was a busy one for the College of Saint Benedict tennis team, but senior Victoria Beach made the most of it.

The Blazers were in Winona, Minn., for a pair of matches Saturday, and turned back around and headed back to St. Joseph for their first home contest of the year right away Sunday morning. Beach picked up a pair of singles wins and was part of three doubles wins to stay undefeated so far this spring and continue her solid senior season.

For her big weekend, and her role in helping the Blazers finish 2-1 with a pair of sweeps, Beach has been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.

Beach, a Grand Rapids, Mich., native, kicked off the spring with a singles win and doubles victory against Northwestern on Feb. 6. Saturday, she picked up a big win 7-6, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 2 singles in CSB’s first MIAC match of the year at Saint Mary’s. She also teamed with fellow senior Rachel Raden to win 8-5 at No. 2 doubles in CSB’s 5-4 loss to the Cardinals.

Later Saturday afternoon, Beach teamed up with Cassy Finn to win 8-4 at No. 2 doubles against Martin Luther College. The Blazers swept MLC 9-0 for their first win of the spring and second win of the season.

Beach was just as good Sunday, winning 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and teaming up with Finn again for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles in CSB’s 9-0 sweep of Concordia.

After this weekend, Beach is 4-0 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles play so far this spring. She is 4-2 in singles in her senior season after finishing 1-2 in the fall and 5-2 in doubles play with both Finn and Raden after a 1-2 mark in the fall season. Beach is tied for first on the team with four singles wins and is second behind Raden with five doubles wins.

Beach is already on her way to improving on her 6-11 singles record from her junior season. She also finished the year 9-9 in doubles play.

Beach and the Blazers, who are 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC, are off now until Feb. 26 when they travel to Owatonna, Minn., to take on St. Olaf College. CSB is back at home March 10 against Hamline at Fitness Evolution in Sartell.
