ST. JOSEPH, Minn. –Kate Moffat’s was ready when her name was called as the College of Saint Benedict hockey team’s starting goalie Wednesday night.
The first year made the most of her first time seeing the ice this season for the Bennies. In CSB’s final game of 2021 – a nonconference matchup at Bethel – Moffat picked up her first collegiate win and helped the Bennies end the semester on a high note.
For her impressive first appearance in net, Moffat is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.
Moffat, a St. Louis, Mo., native, stopped 18 of the 19 shots she faced from the Royals on the road Wednesday night to help CSB picked up a 6-1 win. Bethel’s lone goal of the night came on the power play in the first period, and after that, Moffat was solid. She stopped eight shots in the third period alone to help the Bennies come away with the win.
Wednesday’s win wrapped up the Fall 2021 semester for Saint Benedict. The Bennies are off now until Friday and Saturday, Jan. 7-8, when they host UW-Superior in a pair of nonconference contests. CSB heads into the break 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC.
