ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict soccer team returns home for the week, beginning with the Bennies hosting Saint Mary's University for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) clash Tuesday, Sept. 29. Action is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at CSB Soccer Stadium. 

 

Saint Benedict (6-1-1, 0-1-1 MIAC) looks to get back in the win column after suffering a 2-nil defeat at St. Catherine University Saturday, Sept. 26. Battling rain during the bout, senior Rhianna Anya (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson Sr.) made six saves in goal for the Bennies. 

 

Leading the offense, first-year Eva Gower (Plymouth, Minn./Orono) has racked up a team-best six goals and 14 points this season. First-year Lilly DeRosier (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) and sophomore Elly Prairie (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) are tied for second with four goals and nine points apiece. Sophomore Veronica Warren (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) sits tied at the top of the team in assists alongside Gower, as each has assisted on two goals this season. 

 

In goal for CSB, sophomore Anna Mollenhauer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) leads the team with 17 saves, owning a .944 save percentage across 180 minutes. Anya sits second with 12 saves spanning 315 minutes between the pipes.  

 

The Bennies own a 28-17-3 record against Saint Mary's (3-5-1, 1-2 MIAC), but the Cardinals have claimed the victory in the two most recent meetings. A season ago, Saint Ben's fell 5-1 on the road Oct. 22, 2025. Now-senior Olivia Smith (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) scored the lone goal for the visitors, using a penalty kick opportunity to her advantage. Now-sophomore Claire McGrath (Stillwater, Minn./Hill-Murray) made two saves in goal over 51:41 minutes of action, while Mollenhauer added a stop over the remainder of the game. SMU comes to town off a 1-nil win at Buena Vista University Sunday, Sept. 27.
