Soccer Readies for Weekend Contest against Gustavus Adolphus

Bennies to battle Gusties at 1 p.m.

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - After opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play on the road, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team returns home to host Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday, Sept. 19. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. at CSB Stadium.  
 
The Bennies (6-0, 1-0 MIAC) most recently bested Bethel University, 3-1, Wednesday night, Sept. 16. First-year Eva Gower (Plymouth, Minn./Orono) upped her scoring streak to four straight games with a goal, as she net two in the win. First-year Lilly DeRosier (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) scored the other goal in the contest. Sophomores Laila Totushek (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) and Emma Johnson (Lakeville, Minn./Eastview), and senior Avery Soli (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) all added assists. Senior Rhianna Anya (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson Sr.) and sophomore Anna Mollenhaur (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) split time in goal to secure the win.  
 
Gower leads the team with six goals and 14 points on the season. DeRosier is second with four goals, while sophomore Elly Prairie (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) has scored three. DeRosier and Prairie are tied for second on the team with 10 points. Gower and sophomore Veronica Warren (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) sit atop the team with two assists apiece. 
 
Off to a strong start in goal, Mollenhauer leads the team with 17 saves spanning 180 minutes between the iron, as the sophomore brings in a .944 save percentage. Anya is second with six saves across 180 minutes. Both Mollenhauer and Anya bring in a 2-0 record.  
 
With a lengthy series dating back to 1983, CSB holds a slim 22-19-4 record against the Gusties (1-4-1, 0-1 MIAC). The Bennies have won seven of the last eight matchups, including the last two contests. A season ago, Saint Ben's secured a 2-nil win at GAC Sept. 27, 2025. Grace Fitzgibbons and Addison Stephani scored for the Bennies, while Anya secured the shutout with six saves in the contest. Gustavus Adolphus most recently fell, 4-nil, against Saint Olaf College Wednesday night, Sept. 16.
