ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - Fresh off a win at the Fall D3 Classic a weekend ago, the College of Saint Benedict golf team will compete in the St. Kate's Invitational Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 19-20. The meet, which is hosted by St. Catherine University, will take place on two different golf courses. Saturday's round will take place at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury, Minn. at 10:30 a.m., with the first CSB group teeing off at 11:30 a.m. Sunday is set for 12 p.m. at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn. 

 

At the Fall D3 Classic, Saint Ben's captured the championship after finishing with a two-round score of 35-over 611, besting the field by three strokes. The team's 36-hole score of 611 tied the school record set a season ago. First-year Hallie Johnson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) led the way with a tie for fifth place. The first-year fired an even par 72 in the first round before going for six-over 78 Sunday, Sept. 13, to finish the weekend at six-over 150. Juniors Sophia Anderson (Albany, Minn./Albany Area) and Kenna Henriksen (Olivia, Minn./BOLD) tied for 13th in the tournament behind 36-hole scores of nine-over 153. Sophomore Layla Mathews (Becker, Minn./Becker) cracked the top-20, as she finished tied for 19th at 11-over 155.   

 

Saint Benedict's lineup will feature Anderson, Henriksen, Mathews, Johnson, and first-year Lillias Savageau (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis). Junior Avery Maus (Kimball, Minn./Kimball Area), sophomore Isabella Anlauf (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and first-year Jenna Owen (Cold Spring, Minn./Roccori) will compete as individuals. 

 

Last season, Saint Ben's finished runner-up at the St. Kate's Invitational after shattering the school record with a 36-hole total of 611. Catherine Jance led the Bennies, as she fired rounds of 72 and 71 to finish at one-under-par 143. The score also established a new program record for the 36-hole individual score, previously held by Emily Renner (146, 2022). CSB's first round score of 302 also bested the school record for 18-holes, as the previous mark of 206 had been standing since 2005. Jance finished second in the field, followed by Anderson in eighth, and now-assistant coach Maggie Roth in a tie for 22nd to round out the Bennies inside the top-25.
