Soccer Set to Battle Scots on Family Weekend

Bennies host Macalester for 3:30 p.m. bout

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - Continuing a week of home contests, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team will host Macalester College for a 3:30 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) contest Saturday, Oct. 3.  
 
The Bennies bring in a 7-1-1 record, having already matched its win total from a season ago, and own a 2-1-1 record in conference contests. CSB most recently downed Saint Mary's University, 5-1, Tuesday, Sept. 29. Saint Benedict's offensive flurry was led by sophomore Elly Prairie (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park). Prairie finished with a goal and two assists in the contest, totaling four points for the second time in her career. All five goals were scored by different Bennies, highlighted by first-year Ella Verkinderen's (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) first collegiate score. Sophomore Allison Cammerrer (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) was second on the team in points, as she notched one goal and an assist for a career-high of three.    
 
First-year Eva Gower (Plymouth, Minn./Orono) leads the team with six goals and 14 points. Prairie closely follows in both categories, as she has five goals and 13 points on the season. First-year Lilly DeRosier (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) rounds out the top-three with four goals and nine points. Prairie tops the team with three assists, while four Bennies are tied for second with two helpers apiece. 
 
In goal for Saint Ben's, sophomore Anna Mollenhauer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) holds the team-lead in saves with 20. Mollenhauer brings in a .909 save percentage over 225 minutes in goal. Senior Rhianna Anya (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson Sr.) sits second with 12 saves spanning a team-high 315 minutes between the pipes.  
 
Saint Benedict will take on the Scots (5-4, 3-1 MIAC) for the 50th time since the inaugural matchup in 1984. Macalester holds the advantage in the series at 22-16-11 and won the most recent meeting, 3-2, Oct. 11, 2025. Now-junior Gabby Fernholz (Rice, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) scored for the Bennies in the match, while now-junior Sienna Chase (Tustin, Calif./Orange Lutheran) added an assist. Anya led the team with four saves in goal. The Scots most recently upended Gustavus Adolphus College, 2-1, Tuesday, Sept. 29.
