Mosley, Hackley, Lewis and Cavanaugh honored as WIAC announces end of season honors

Ava Mosley named WIAC Newcomer of the Year

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Ava Mosley, Sami Hackley, Chloe Lewis and Tess Cavanaugh of the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team have been honored as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced its end of the season awards.

Mosley, a first-year global business leadership and economics double major from Stillwater, Minn., received first-team All-WIAC honors. She was also selected as the WIAC Newcomer of the Year. Hackley, a junior biology major from Plymouth, Minn., earned second team all-conference honors. Lewis, a junior political science and pre-law major from Brooklyn Park, Minn., was named honorable mention as a goaltender. Cavanaugh, a junior economics and theology major from Edina, Minn., was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team. 

The trio of CSB standouts helped St. Ben's to an 11-6 overall record, including 7-2 for second place in the WIAC. In CSB's initial season in the WIAC, the Bennies advanced to the playoffs and finished 1-1 with a 15-13 win over UW-Lacrosse in the third-place game.
 
Ava Mosley - Newcomer of the Year - WIAC 2025 Mosley, who played attack, scored 12 goals in the WIAC playoffs, and became the second player in school history with 50 goals in a season (Sami Hackley, school record, 53, 2024). She registered her 12th multi-goal game of the season in a come-from-behind 15-13 win against UW-LaCrosse as CSB won the third-place game. With 16 assists, the first-year attack standout finished with 66 points. She finished with an .811 shot on goal percentage with 95 shots, including 77 on goal. Mosley had three game winning goals, 26 ground balls, and caused 14 turnovers. Overall, she ranked fourth in the WIAC with 2.94 goals per game (2.90 in WIAC only games). She was seventh in points per game at 3.88

Hackley, who excelled on attack and as a defender, has earned selection to her third straight all-conference team, albeit the first in the WIAC. She was named to all-league teams in 2023 and 2024 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. In 2025, she totaled 41 goals with 11 assists for 52 points. She had a .713 shot on goal percentage with 87 shots, including 62 on goal. Hackley finished with 29 ground balls, three draw controls, three game-winning shots and caused 11 turnovers.  She now has 131 goals in her career. She has a program-best 160 points with at least 37 goals (37, 2023; 53, 2024; and 41, 2025) in each of her three seasons with CSB. Hackley, who has a program-best nine career game-winning goals, had 13 multi-goal games this season with 33  in her career. She also has totaled 101 ground balls, 79 draw controls and 255 shots (190 on goal).

Lewis, who earned her first honorable mention honor in the WIAC, ranked fourth in the WIAC in goals against average of 10.19; sixth in saves per game at 8.5 (136) and sixth in save percentage (.455).  She had a 9-6-0 record in goal with a career mark of 28-14. She faced 389 shots this year and 1,122 in her career. In her career, she has totaled 428 career in 2,640 minutes in net. Lewis was twice named All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference before CSB joined the WIAC.  

Cavanaugh, who also earned a sportsmanship honor in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference, recorded seven goals on four assists and had 11 points as a midfield performer. She had 13 ground balls and a draw control. In two seasons, she has 13 goals, five assists and 18 points across 30 games played.
