ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team (2-4, 0-2 WIAC) is set to host a pair of games this weekend, including a WIAC contest with UW-LaCrosse (6-2, 2-0 WIAC) on Saturday, April 5 and a nonconference game with DII Northern Michigan (7-4) on Sunday, April 6.
CSB, which is 2-4 overall and 1-2 in WIAC play, hosts UW-LaCrosse at 1 p.m. Saturday at the CSB Athletic Field and then will welcome Northern Michigan on Sunday at noon.
Following a 2-1 record in nonconference play, the Bennies, which joined the WIAC as an affiliate member this season, kicked off a busy week with its first-ever match up in the WIAC, falling to UW-River Falls (7-2, 1-0 MIAC), 13-7, in River Falls, Wis.
CSB's season so far includes a win over Edgewood College (17-4) in Madison, Wis., and a loss to No. 24 University of Chicago (20-6). In the loss to the University of Chicago, first-year player
Ava Mosley led the team with two goals. In their victory over Edgewood,
Sami Hackley scored five goals. The Bennies also secured a 23-4 victory over Hamline, with Hackley and Mosley both contributing five goals each. Hackley's performance marked her 100th career goal, making her the first player in CSB's program history to reach this milestone. Against UW-River Falls, CSB's Hackley and
Izzy Bohlman both scored two goals in the 13-7 road setback. On March 29, thee Bennies dropped a 21-9 decision to Chapman University before falling, 17-4, to No. 19 Colorado College.
UW-LaCrosse (6-2, 2-0 WIAC)
Nick Anagnostis is in his first year as head coach for UW-LaCrosse, who has opened the season at 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the WIAC. In 2025, UW-LaCrosse has recorded a 14-13 win over UW-River Falls and a 15-4 victory over UW-Stout. This season, the Eagles have outscored opponents, 102-to-79, and outshot foes, 27.9-to-26.0 per game. They own an 75.3 percent clear rate with opponents at 68.2 percent. In addition, they have the edge in draw controls, 106-to-99. Ava Schiltz leads the way with 31 goals and 39 points while Megan Maloney had 19 goals while Evie Brilz has 17 goals and seven assists. In goal, Stefania Rosse has a 6-2 record and allowed 10.14 goals per game.
Series - CSB trails UW-LaCrosse, 2-0,
In the all-time series, CSB trails UW-LaCrosse, 2-0, including a 15-7 loss on March 9, 2024. On April 24, 2023, CSB lost by an 18-5 decision in St. Joseph, Minn. CSB is 0-1 both home and away against UW-LaCrosse. This will be the first time the team will meet in WIAC play.
Northern Michigan (7-4)
Northern Michigan, an NCAA DII program, is directed by Lindsey Majkrzak, who has led the program since 2020. In its last game, Northern Michigan dropped a 12-11 overtime decision to #17 Grand Valley State in Marquette, Mich. The Wildcats also had a 9-6 win over Davenport and a 20-1 decision against Saginaw Valley. Northern Michigan has a 153-to-99 goals advantage over its opponents this year. They have averaged 30.6 shots per game, holding opponents to 24.5. In terms of clears, NMU is converting at 84.5 percent rate while opponents have a 79.6 percent success rate. They also own a 178-to-106 margin in draw controls. Josie Lakosky leads the team with 41 goals and 16 assists for 57 points. Hannah Jabas has 22 goals and Maddi Bast, 19.

CSB Team Notes – Player Highlights
- Sami Hackley (Junior): With 15 goals and six assists (21 points, team-high) this season, Hackley has surpassed 105 career goals, making her the first player in CSB history to do so. She has 105 goals and 24 assists for 129 career points. She has scored multiple goals in 15 of her last 17 games, adding a program-best seven game-winning goals. Hackley has 26 multi-goal games in her career. She has twice scored five goals in a game this season. Eight times she has scored at least five goals in a game and has a career-best and school record nine vs Augsburg on April 12, 2024.
- Ava Mosley (First Year): With 10 goals and four assists for 14 points, Mosley ranks third on the team in goals and second in scoring.
- Hannah Kurowski (First Year): Kurowski has contributed six goals and six assists for 12 points.
- Emma Nelson (Sophomore): Nelson has four goals and five assists, along with 19 draw controls and 10 forced turnovers. She has posted multi-goal performances in nine career games, including a four-goal outing against Edgewood this season.
- Lizzie Schrubbe (Sophomore): Schrubbe has four goals, four assists, and 10 ground balls in 2025. She set the CSB program record last season with 50 assists and 12 points in a game, and five times had five or more assists in a game.
- Izzy Bohlman (First Year): Bohlman has 11 goals (2nd on CSB) and 22 points, leading the team with 13 ground balls.
- Emma Osland (Senior): Osland has scored 50 career goals with nine assists for 59 points. She has tallied three goals this season.
- Chloe Lewis (Goalkeeper): Lewis has made 48 saves in five appearances this season and holds a 20-11-0 career record with 338 saves in over 1,980 minutes played.
St. Benedict – Inside the Numbers
CSB has scored 66 goals and registered 35 assists through six games. The Bennies, which averaged 27.5 shots per game, has accumulated 141 ground balls, caused 86 turnovers, and recorded 77 draw controls. Additionally, they have a clear success rate of 68.7% while defensively hold opponents to 65.5 percent. Opponents have totaled 79 goals, and 35 assists as well as 28.2 shots per game.
