COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Izzy Bohlman scored three goals, but the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team (2-3) suffered a 21-9 loss to Chapman University (3-5) in a nonconference matchup.
In their first-ever meeting between the programs, Chapman quickly took control with a 4-0 lead. Although CSB responded with an 7-1 run to take a 7-5 lead in the second quarter, Chapman responded with a 16-2 run, including a 12-2 advantage in the second half, to secure the victory.
As a result, the Bennies fell to 2-3 on the season, while Chapman improved to 3-5. CSB will next face No. 19 Colorado College (7-2, 1-0 WIAC) on Sunday, March 30 at noon in WIAC play in Colorado Springs.
Bohlman's three goals led St. Ben's and marked her third consecutive multi-goal game. She is now tied for second on the team (
Ava Mosley) with 10 goals in her first season with CSB. Six other players also scored for the Bennies, including junior
Sami Hackley, who netted her 17th goal of the season, bringing her career total to 103. First-year player
Hannah Kurowski contributed a goal and two assists for three points, raising her season total to six goals and a team-leading six assists. Sophomore
Tess Cavanaugh scored her first goal of the season, while first-year
Merrill Delich recorded her fourth. Sophomore Lizzy Schrubbe scored her fourth goal of the season, netting the final goal for CSB. First-year
Ava Mosley and Delich each added assists.
In goal, CSB's junior
Chloe Lewis made a season-high 16 saves.
Chapman outshot CSB, 42-20, including a 31-12 advantage in shots on goal. Chapman also led in ground balls, 20-13, in draw controls, 21-10, and successfully cleared all 13 of their attempts. CSB, which had 22 turnovers, completed 16 of 19 clears.
