ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After its fifth straight playoff win, the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team is returning to the MIAC Playoffs Championship. With a five-game winning streak, the third-seeded Bennies (20-6) will travel to Northfield for a 7 p.m. showdown on Saturday, Nov. 15, with top-seeded St. Olaf (27-6) at the Skoglund Center.
Saint Benedict, the defending MIAC Playoff champion, punched its return ticket to the title match with a dramatic 3–2 road win over No. 23 and second-seeded Gustavus Adolphus on Nov. 13 in St. Peter. That victory followed a dominant 3–0 home sweep of No. 6 Augsburg in the quarterfinals two days earlier. The pair of postseason wins boosts CSB's all-time MIAC Playoff total to 26 in the program's 23rd tournament appearance. The Bennies previously claimed playoff titles in 2009, 2017, and 2024.
Last fall, CSB captured the crown as a No. 4 seed and clinched a berth in the NCAA Division III Championships. Now, after their fifth straight MIAC playoff win and second consecutive road upset of Gustavus, the Bennies will face regular-season champion St. Olaf for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Tournament. It will be the second championship meeting between the two programs—and the first since 2009—while Saturday marks their sixth playoff clash overall. St. Olaf has won four of the previous five, including semifinal victories in 2010, 2019, and 2023, though CSB swept the Oles in the 2009 title match. St. Olaf took the regular-season meeting this year in four sets on Oct. 24 in St. Joseph.
