SAINT PETER, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team had a busy weekend by competing at the ITA Regional Championships and Midwest Invite on September 20-21. The Bennies had competitors in both singles and doubles in both the ITA Regional competition and the Midwest Invite. This is the final competition for St. Ben's for the fall season before spring season opens.

ITA singles
Sophia Jonas of CSB lost to Jay Mascardo of Loras, 6-1, 6-0. In the consolation rounds, Jonas defeated Grace Niebler of Carroll, 8-0 before falling to Liz Herzog of UW-Eau Claire in the quarterfinals, 8-7.
Greta Nesbit of CSB dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Max Graves of Cornell.
After falling in the opening round,
Hannah Helms of CSB fell to Emma Thurness of Wartburg, 6-2, 6-3. She won her first round consolation match by an 8-6 tally against Emma Dillon of Edgewood College. In the quarterfinals of the consolation round, Andreina Tejada of UW-Superior defeated Helms, 8-0.
ITA doubles –
Jonas/Nesbit of CSB defeated Tristin Jantz/Jordan Scharf of UW-Stevens Point, 8-6. In the next round, Alli Laux/Bethany Smith of Gustavus defeated Jonas/Nesbit of CSB, 8-3.
Midwest Invite
Singles –
Ella Marohl of CSB had a win and a loss in advancing to the semifinals of her draw. She defeated Kelsey Dammeier of Wartburg, 5-7, 6-1, 10-8; Marohl over Mads Hockmuth of St. Olaf, 2-6, 6-3, 12-10. She lost in the semifinals to Abigail McIsaac of UW-Whitewater.
Margaret Silgen of CSB defeated Charlotte Sloane of St. Olaf, 6-1, 6-4 in the opening round of 16. Then, she lost to Giula DeBarros of UW-Superior, 4-6, 7-6, 10-8.
Allyson Yahn of CSB defeated Sarah Emory of Edgewood, 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round of 16. She lost to Nehir Ergun of Grinnell, 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.
Kira Young of CSB defeats Lily Schreckengast of Wartburg, 6-1, 6-2 in the opening round of 16 before falling to Bryna Eigenfeld of Bethel, 6-1, 6-0, in the quarterfinals.
In her draw, Lila Collins of CSB lost to Nina Perkins of Grinnell, 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 in the opening round of 16.
Marie Labenski of CSB lost to Aby Ross of UW-Stevens Point, 6-3, 6-1 in the opening round of her draw.
Ryanna Steinhaus of CSB defeated Amanda Helser of Crown, 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round. Steinhaus fell to Abby Johnson of Northwestern-St. Paul, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
Doubles –
Steinhaus/Labenski of CSB lost to Megan Griswold/Abigail McIsaac, UW-Whitewater, 8-3, in the opening round of doubles. In consolation draws, Labenski/Steinhaus lost to Osterman/O'Donnell of Luther, 8-7.
Silgen/Helms of CSB fell to Erica Wing/Ashley King of St. Catherine, 8-4.
Young/Collins of CSB defeated Lauren Kepier/Elle Nguyen of Loras, 8-0. Young/Collins fell to Aby Ross/Isabelle Sullivan, Northwestern-St. Paul, 8-7. In consolation draws, Young/Collins defeated Bloome/Rousu of Wartburg, 8-4. Then in the next round, Young/Collins lost to Haddorff/Yakimova, 8-2.
Marohl/Yahn of CSB dropped an 8-1 decision to Ashley Adkisson/Priyanka Bhogaraju of UW-Whitewater.
