CSB Swim and Dive has solid performance at Gustie Invite & Dodd Road Diving Invite

SAINT PETER/NORTHFIELD, Minn. – In the final preparation for the MIAC Championships in two weeks, the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team had 18 top-eight finishes, including a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle at the Gustie Invite.

CSB's dive team also competed at the Dodd Road Invite with a fifth place finish by first-year Ella Kowalczyk 

CSB had its best finish in the 400-yard freestyle with a second-place finish of 3:51.09 with a team of first-year Claire Canfield, sophomore Mikayla Haskamp, sophomore Rachel Schlueter and senior Emi Wagner. CSB was also 10th in the event in 3:59.45 with team of sophomore Megan Bartels, senior Jocie Larson, first-year Josey Jackson and sophomore Liz Hansen.

The Bennies placed third in the 800-freestyle relay with a clocking of 8:31.11 with Mary Morris, Lauren Sitzman, Canfield and Hansen clocking. In the 200-freestyle relay, CSB was fifth in 1:43.53 with a squad of Larson, Laura Jennings, Emma Vicker and Wagner.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Saint Benedict was fifth with a time of 4:28.96 with a squad of Schlueter, Bartels, Jennings, and Vicker. CSB was 13th in 4:37.33 with a squad of Sitzman, Jayda Alholm, Anna Boomgaarden, and Emma Neely.

CSB captured two of the top six spots in the 200-yard medley relay. A squad of Sitzman, Bartels, Schlueter and Haskamp clocked 1:57.23. The team of Canfield, Wagner, Jennings, and Larson was sixth in 1:58.74.

Individual Results -

Sophomore Mary T. Morris was third in the backstroke in 1:02.93. Wagner was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.53.

Canfield was fifth in the 200 backstroke in 2:16.66 with Morris, sixth, in 2:17.80 and Sitzman, 10th, 2:21.52.

Jackson was sixth (2:30.76), Anna Boomgaarden, seventh (2:31.17) and Vicker, ninth (2:52.00) in the 200 butterfly.

Sophomore Morgan Stout placed sixth in the 1,650 freestyle with a clocking of 20:36.54 and Alholm was eighth in 21:03.37.  Canfield was ninth in the 200 IM in 2:22.8. Wagner was ninth (1:14.05) and Larson, 12th (1:15.16) in the 100 breaststroke.

Bartels took seventh in the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.88. Larson placed 10th in 2:41.88.

In the 100 freestyle, Schlueter was 10th (57.62) and Haskamp, 11th (57.77) and Wagner, 12th (57.88).

Jennings was seventh in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.45 with Canfield, 10th, 1:07.12 and Schlueter, 11th, 1:07.25. Senior Megan Pattee was eighth in 2:05.70 in the 200 freestyle while Jackson placed 11th in 2:07.80 and Stout, 12th in 1:09.25. In the 500 freestyle, Jennings was 10th in 5:42.12.

Sitzman placed 11th (1:06.73) and Pattee (1:07.73) was 12th in the 100 backstroke.

Dodd Diving Invite

On the 3-meter board (11-dives), Kowalczyk was fifth in 334.10; Sabrina Buffetta was 13th in 264.30.

On the 1-meter board (11 dives), Claire Hippen was 12th in 314.15
