ST. JOSEPH, Minn. ---
Mary Morris of the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team, who recorded five event wins across two dual competitions on Oct. 18-19, has been named the St. Cloud Orthopedics / CSB Athlete of the Week.
A sophomore biology major from St. Cloud, Minn., Morris had a combined five events wins, including four individual triumphs, in leading the Bennies to dual wins of 148-74 and 152-70 against Minnesota Morris on Friday and Saturday.
"Mary is a strong and talented addition to the Bennies' Swim & Dive team. Her enthusiasm for racing is contagious and she is so supportive of her teammates," said CSB head coach
Mandy Wolvert.
In the opening dual on Friday at the Cougar Pool in Morris, Minn., the CSB standout captured the 500-yard freestyle in 5:31.24 by racing 22.52 seconds ahead of the field. Morris also captured the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.05, which was nearly four seconds faster than the second-place finisher. In addition, she anchored the second place 400-free style relay that clocked 3:54.75. The relay squad also included

Ava Niksich.
In CSB's second straight dual win over Minnesota-Morris on Saturday at the Warner Palaestra Pool, Morris led off CSB's victorious 200 medley relay, which clocked 1:54.64 as she was joined by teammates
Megan Bartels,
Rachel Schlueter and
Liz Hansen. The relay won the event by more than nine seconds. In addition to the relay, Morris cruised to a 10-second win in the 200 IM as she clocked 2:19.30 to finish ahead of three other teammates. Then, Morris won the 200-yard free style with a clocking of 2:02.96, which was over eight seconds ahead of the field.
Morris and her CSB teammates will continue the season with a dual competition against Macalester at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 26 in St. Paul, Minn.
