COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict indoor track and field team opened its home season on Saturday (Jan. 27) with several notable performances, including two meet records and top-10 program marks from
Jaylyn Ahlberg and
Sabriya Janet Farquharson.
In total, the Bennies had 11 event wins during competition at the Clemens Stadium.
Ahlberg, who was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, continued her advance up CSB's all-time indoor pole vault record board. For the third straight competition, she improved her vault performance as she had a personal-best, meet record and third-best vault all-time at CSB by going 3.61m - 11-10.00. The mark ranks 14
th in NCAA DIII. Also in the pole vault, freshman Lili Raidt had her second straight personal-best in finishing second at 3.16m – 10-04.25.
Farquharson also established a meet mark and a personal-best, which ranks tied for fourth all-time (Megan Sundstrom, 2017) at CSB, after recording a triple jump mark of 11.11m – 36.05.50. It is a mark that ranks fourth in the MIAC and 38
th in NCAA DIII.
Ellie Selisker, who had a second-place finish in the triple jump at 10.39m – 34-01.25, won the high jump at 1.50m – 4-11.0.
CSB's only double-event winner was senior
Tiana Johnson, who won both the 60-meters in 8.19 and 200-meters in 27.17. Also, in the 60-meters, first-year
Grace Buntrock was second in 8.21 and she finished third in the 200-meters in 27.88. Senior
Sidela Nyuga had a personal-best of 27.18 in finishing second in the 200 meters.
Another event winner in the field events was junior
Justus Floren who captured a long jump title by going 4.61m – 15-01.50.
Senior
Lucy Lyngen had a personal-best of 5:27.50 in winning the mile. First-year
Taylor Radaich was second in the mile in 5:37.18.
In the 3,000 meters, sophomore
Mary Kenney picked up the win by clocking 10:54.15.
Junior
Kalli Smith recorded a win in the 800-meters by clocking 2:24.77 while senior
Mirijana Ganley won the 400-meters in 1:02.79, edging Nyuga who finished in 1:02.85.
First-year
Anya Adelgren captured the 60-meter hurdles title with a personal-best of 10.02. Selisker was second in 10.26 and Floren, third, at 10.50.
Senior
Haley Joos had a pair of second-place finishes in the throws as she registered a 10.95m – 35-11.5 in the shot put and 12.48m – 40-11.50 in the weight throw.
