HASTINGS, Minn. – Led by senior
Emily Renner and three others in the top 40, the College of Benedict golf team carded the best two-round total of the season and finished sixth among 16 teams with a two-round total of 644 (326-318) at the Gusties DIII Classic at the Emerald Greens Golf Course.
Carleton College, which was led by individual medalist Carter Sichol with a four-over par, 148 (75-73), won the team title with a 33-over par, 609 (303-306). UW-LaCrosse finished second 18 shots behind Carleton with a 34-over par, 627 (305-322). Gustavus Adolphus was third at 54-over par, 630 (315-315) followed by St. Olaf at 65-over par 641 (320-321); Bethel, fifth at 67 over par 643 (323-320) and then CSB in 6th. The Bennies carded their best round since shooting a 631 (326-305) on the same golf course on Sept. 14-15, 2019. The second round of 318 was the best for a CSB squad since carding 314 in round two of the Gusties DIII Classic on Sept. 17-18, 2022.

Daryl Schomer felt good about his team performance, which was the best of the young season.
"I was very pleased with the way we finished the round today. We hit a rough patch about midway through, but everyone did a nice job of bouncing back to secure our best team score of the year," said Schomer, who had five players shoot better rounds on day two than in the first round.
Renner, who won her third career title at the Georgianni Blugold Invite last week, finished tied for ninth with a two-round total of 10-over par 154 with rounds of 76 and 78. Renner, who has had six straight sub-80 rounds this year, had 27 pars to go with a birdie on the 102-yard, par three 15th hole. Renner, a three-time All-MIAC performer, registered her 12th top-10 finish in her career.
CSB sophomore
Jamie Bimberg was tied for 17
th with a career-best- 16-over par round of 160 as she had an 81 on day one followed by a 79 today. The 79 was Bimberg's second-best round of the season. With her 160, she tied her career-best two-round total, which she set at the 2022 DIII Classic on Sept. 17-18, 2022, on the Emerald Greens Golf Course. She had three birdies to go with 19 pars. On day one, Bimberg had birdies on the 332-yard par four fifth hole, 466 par, five eighth hole and the 153-yard, par three, sixth hole.
Sophomore
Catherine Jance placed in a tie for 31
st with a 20-over par, total of 164 with rounds of 83 and 81. She had 15 pars with a pair of birdies on the par five, 454-yard hole 18
th hole.
Sophomore
Maggie Roth finished tied for 39
th after shooting a two-round total of 22-over par, 166 with rounds of 86 and 80. She improved her total by six shots on day two as she finished with 17 pars and had birdies on the par five, 466-yard eighth hole and the par five, 458-yard 14
th hole on day two.
First-year
Taylar Nadler moved up eight spots from day one to a tie for 47
th after carding a 169 with rounds of 87 and 82. She had 10 pars plus four birdies, including the par four, 312-yard hole 1 and the 454-yard, par four 18
th hole on day one. In round two she had birdies on the 290-yard, par four fourth hole and the 102-yard par three 15
th hole.
Junior Halle Struck finished tied for 68
th with a 34-over par 178 with consecutive rounds of 89. Strunk's two-round 178 total was the best of her career as she totaled nine pars in the tournament and had a birdie in round two on the 150-yard par three second hole.

Georgia Hinton, who finished at 35-over par, 179 after round of 92 and 87. She had 10 pars and two birdies in her two-round effort. Hinton had both her birdies in round two with one on the par four, 312-yard hole one and the par four, 332-yard fifth hole.
