CSB golf sits 11th after day one of CSB invite

SARTELL, Minn. – The CSB golf team currently sits 11th out of 13 in the team standings after day one of their home invite at Blackberry Ridge, but they aren't far out of reach of moving up on day two.  

The Bennies shot a first-round team score of 350, just one stroke behind St. Olaf, two strokes behind Gustavus, and only seven strokes behind both St. Scholastica and Bethel's varsity squad who are sitting tied for sixth place.  

Junior Emily Renner led the Bennies top five players with a first-round score of 85, putting her tied for 24th individually. Behind her was first year Maggie Roth, who carded a first collegiate round 87 on day one, putting her tied for 37th individually.  

Tied for 42nd individually with a first day score of 88 is sophomore Georgia Hinton, followed by first year Jamie Bimberg carding her first collegiate tournament round of 90 to put her tied for 48th after day one. Rounding out the top five starters was sophomore Sami Boerboom, who carded a first-round 92 and ended day one tied for 59th individually.  

Three Bennies also played as individuals during the meet, sophomore Halle Strunk leading the group with a first day score of 86 and sitting tied for 29th individually. First year Donelle Decker also carded a first-round 90 in her first collegiate tournament round, sitting tied for 48th with teammate Bimberg. Junior Hayden Boelter finished her first round of the season with a score of 94, putting her tied for 66th at the end of day one.  

Carleton's Carter Sichol leads the individual race after carding an even par 72 on the first day.  

The second and final round of the CSB Invite begins Sunday morning at Blackberry Ridge with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
