Bennie golf tied for 6th after first day of St. Kate's Invite

RESULTS

STILLWATER, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict golf team is competing in their final regular season meet before the MIAC championships this weekend, this time taking on two different courses for the St. Kate's Invite.  

The Bennie golf team started off day one of the St. Kate's Invite at Oak Glen Golf Course in Stillwater, where the team shot a first day total of 324 to sit tied for 6th with St. Scholastica out of 14 total teams. They sit just two strokes behind UW-Stout, who sits in 5th place. St. Kate's sits at the top of the team leaderboard with a total score of a +5 293.  

Junior Emily Renner leads the Bennies on day one, carding a first day score of 76 to put her tied for 8th individually with four other golfers. Sophomore Sami Boerboom carded a first round 79 to put her tied for 19th individually.  

First year Jamie Bimberg scored an 84 on the first day to put her tied for 39th and sophomore Georgia Hinton carded an 85 for a tie for 47th individually. Rounding out the top five Bennie golfers is junior Hayden Boelter, who finished round one with a score of 87 to put her tied for 57th individually.  

Sophomore Halle Strunk joined the Bennies, playing as an individual, and carded a first round 94.  

St. Kate's Sydney Brandt sits atop the individual leaderboard, shooting a first day round of 69 and her teammate Kyra Venne sits in second place after shooting a first round 71. 

The Bennies second and final round of the St. Kate's Invite will be played at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury tomorrow, with the first tee times beginning at 9:03 a.m. for the Bennie golf team.
